About Sobel Network Shipping Co., Inc

Sobel Shipping was founded in downtown New York in 1949 by a licensed Customs Broker named Hyman Sobel. At the time, his sole employee was his wife Gladys, whom helped him grow the firm. Unfortunately, with the lack of employees, Mr. Sobel worked every day processing the Customs entries, doing bookkeeping, and acting as his own messenger. The business was located at 25 Beaver Street near the old Customhouse. At that time, every entry had to be submitted by hand to the Entry Division at the Customhouse.

Sobel Shipping Leadership
When Sobel Shipping expanded in 1951, Hyman hired a messenger, Sam Zekser. Mr. Zekser was hired from 1951 to 1953 serving as a messenger and floor man. In 1971, the firm was incorporated as Sobel Shipping Co., Inc. which still holds that name today. Sam Zekser would eventually rejoin the firm in 1979, and become president and sole owner of Sobel Shipping Co., Inc. As of January 1, 2015, Brian C. Wills acquired Sobel Shipping and joined the Sobel team as the company President.

Today Brian C. Wills and the Sobel Shipping team proudly continue the work that Mr. Sobel began in 1949 by maintaining solid customer relationships using the latest in modern technology.”
