CBP Issues Guidance on Extension and Revocation/Suspension of Section 301 China Product Exclusions and Section 232 Duties

On July 3, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) published several guidance updates through CSMS regarding the extension of Section 301 China Product Exclusions and the recent revocation and suspension related to Section 232 duties.

Regarding the Section 301 China Product Exclusions Extension, CBP outlined a 14-day transition period to extend 429 specific product exclusions (including 352 previously reinstated exclusions and 77 COVID-related exclusions) through June 14, 2024, with certain exclusions extended further until May 31, 2025.

CBP also addressed the May 20 Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) final rule, which revoked 12 previously granted Section 232 General Approved Exclusions (GAEs). Additionally, the guidance included information on the extension of the previously suspended tariffs on steel articles from Ukraine, extending the suspension for another year until June 1, 2025.
