The authorities at Port Houston and Houston Airports have requested continued patience from the shipping industry through the weekend as they work to resume operations after Hurricane Beryl. The recovery efforts are complicated by widespread power outages and ongoing cleanup efforts across the Houston metropolitan area.
Port Houston reported that its terminals were operational shortly after the storm passed. To support recovery efforts, the container terminals extended their gate hours from July 10-13.
“Due to significant power outages, limited cell service, and extensive cleanup efforts in Houston, many airport employees are unable to report to work. It’s important for the public to understand that airport workers were also affected by the hurricane,” stated the Houston Airports authority on July 9.
The NCBFAA expressed its support, stating, “We continue to keep our members, their families, and friends in the Houston area in our thoughts during this difficult time and hope for a swift recovery.”
