NCBFAA Excel Sheet and Information Update

Regularly collecting data on the nation’s rail delays and port congestions impacting supply chains, the NCBFAA Transportation Committee’s Logistics Subcommittee has compiled the latest data in an easy-to-use Excel spreadsheet. The spreadsheet makes sure to cover steamship line names, the port from which the ship or vessel is coming from, as well as the port/rail destination it’s going to, the date this information was updated, and specific notes for each source.

As an example, in just the first cell it states “It will take at least 6 months to alleviate intermodal congestion according to analysts. UP claims that the main cause of congestion is chassis shortage. UP plans to add several thousand chassis to its fleet by the first half of 2022. Chassis shortage likely won’t be solved for 6-12 months due to 200% tariff on Chinese-made chassis and U.S. chassis manufacturers being 30% below fleet replacement level despite increasing production.” This is accompanied by supporting documentation here

The Logistics Subcommittee invites members to report on this type of information regularly.
