During a meeting on October 19, Hors Classe Adviser of the European Commission, Henrik Hololei, expressed the European Union’s strong support for Kazakhstan’s vision to emerge as a pivotal transportation and logistics hub. This endorsement was relayed by the ministry’s press service following discussions with Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister, Nazira Nurbayeva.
Hololei underscored the EU’s commitment to assisting Kazakhstan in its pursuit of this objective, offering involvement in infrastructure initiatives and facilitating private investments.
In a concerted effort to diversify transit routes connecting Asia and Europe, the two parties concentrated on leveraging Kazakhstan’s transportation and logistics capabilities. Their agenda also included enhancing coordination within the transport sector across Central Asia and the Caucasus, alongside fostering cooperation in the aviation realm.
Nurbayeva placed emphasis on the execution of significant railway projects and the establishment of novel logistics facilities, designed to enhance Kazakhstan’s competitiveness.
Furthermore, they delved into measures aimed at bolstering transport connectivity between Central Asia and the EU, as outlined in a study by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which identified optimal transport connections between Central Asia and the EU’s Trans-European Transport Network.
