Understanding Section 321: $800 Aggregated Shipments Warning—New Enhancements Coming Soon

On January 11, 2025, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will roll out the second release of the Section 321 – Does Not Exceed $800 in Aggregated Shipments enhancement within the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE). This crucial update is designed to provide users with a warning in ACE when a de minimis shipment is at risk of exceeding the $800 threshold per person, per day.

This enhancement aims to streamline compliance for importers and brokers by providing timely alerts that help avoid exceeding the allowed value limit for duty-free shipments under Section 321. The upcoming release will also include updates to the electronic data interchange (EDI), ensuring smoother communication and data processing between systems.

To prepare for the deployment, CBP has made the update available for testing in the ACE Certification (CERT) environment as of December 11, 2024. Businesses and developers are encouraged to utilize this testing phase to ensure their systems are ready for the January release.

Stay informed and take advantage of this new capability to enhance operational efficiency and compliance with U.S. Customs regulations. For more details on Section 321 and ACE updates, visit the CBP website or contact your trade compliance specialist.
